Canyon Master Reveal

Today I’m excited to share a bedroom reveal with you! I had the client send me her before pics (and didn’t mention to have her take them in daylight), so of course the before and after is going to be a little more dramatic than in real life, but I’m still so happy I can share.

This design was for a young couple who own a townhome, but didn’t want to change any major things (like carpet, paint, moldings, etc.). This isn’t a long term residence for them and they didn't want to spend money on things that might not get them a return down the line. So we decided to put their budget toward furnishings they would be able to carry with them. They had a king mattress, but nothing else, so we worked from scratch here!

Their main request was that the bedding be “yummy soft”, and she mentioned loving Pendleton patterns. There wasn’t a whole lot of other stipulations besides needing a king bed frame, nightstands, lamps, and window treatments. There was an awkward window on the only wall her bed could go, so we knew going into it we would probably want to balance that with some type of art, decor, or mirror on the opposite side. After talking with the client and looking over her Pinterest board, the first design presentation looked like this:

The client’s feedback was she didn’t like the back decorative pillows, and although she liked the light rug and bed, wanted to play it on the safer side in case of stains and go darker. Her husband loves to hunt, and she also told me she had a European mounted deer in storage. So we switched the pillows, bed, rug, and changed up the art. The next round looked like this:

She approved, so we got to ordering and installing. Here is the after!

We ended up balancing out the window on the left of the bed with 2 wooden picture frames that match the woven wood shades so well.

I’m always so happy when a product exceeds my expectations, and I have to say these nightstands did just that! They were a bit of a splurge, but one we both felt would elevate the whole style of the room.The color is SO beautiful and there is still a woodgrain coming through the paint/stain, which I love. The brass finish on the hardware contrasts perfectly with the indigo.

I mentioned before that the client loved Pendleton patterns, and after scouring the internet for hours, I finally came across this lovely pillow from The Citizenry. It was a such a good neutral, and I think she will be able to keep this pillow for years.

The coverlet we draped at the end of the bed is so soft and it’s actually stretchy. It leans more gray than taupe, but I still think it’s a good neutral that could be used almost anywhere. If you actually want a blanket you will use, this is it!

Can we talk about this bench?!? For the price this is the prettiest bench I have ever come across. It is a faux leather, but you can’t tell unless you get close. I originally ordered this from a different source, but Target now carries it, and it is on sale today for a STEAL. About half the price of what I bought it for, so snag it ASAP if you love it!

One of my favorite “hacks” for drapery on a tight budget is using IKEA’s Ritva curtain panels and hemming them on site with hemming tape to get the length just right. If you buy the hooks and hang them on rings, you can get a high end look for pretty cheap! We did that here to soften the look of the windows and add another layer to the woven wood shades.
